Welcome! My name is Allison, and I'm so glad you found your way to this site. I'm a nurse by education and a writer at heart.
My story involves growing up in church, a childhood laughing and learning alongside three siblings, depression, a passion for missions (especially in Cambodia), and an ongoing, messy struggle away from perfectionism and toward truth and freedom in Christ. I began blogging regularly as a way of processing some hard things I saw while volunteering in a Cambodian hospital, and the blog is named Beyond the Smiles after a post capturing a turning point in my heart's journey toward healing.
I like chocolate and kittens and good books, and I'll never turn down a cup of coffee and the opportunity to hear someone's story.
